Internal mobility for broader career horizons: Nathalie Samman shares her story


Each year, CACEIS invites employees to enjoy one of its Moov Days, a day-long forum all about internal mobility. It focuses on ways to break out of routine, take on a new role or even arrange a move abroad.

Nathalie Samman is in a series of personal stories. She is Deputy Manager Corporate actions and General meetings in France.
She became an IT project manager in 2005 and was appointed training project manager for the Human Resources division in 2013. Since February 2017, she has been Deputy Manager - Corporate actions and General Meetings.

IT, HR, transactions, your professional development within CACEIS has encompassed a broad range of areas!

Yes, I like discovering the various business lines and staying within that process of continuous learning, while building on my experiences in my new roles.
There are more connections between these roles than we can imagine. The positions of IT project manager and training project manager require the same project management skills: the ability to analyse and summarise, managing deadlines and meetings, producing reports, etc.
It was therefore relatively easy to move from IT to HR.
This move enabled me to tackle new topics, more cross-disciplinary in nature, while applying an identical method.
As for my recent move, while it is a real opportunity, it is not by accident.  
In IT, I helped develop an information system to manage corporate actions. I stayed in touch with the teams and kept track of the numerous developments of this activity and the custody sector in general.

Did you envisage a management role?

Actually, I was open to any type of position. I did a lot of preparation for my move.
I monitored the job offers within the Group and I met some of the managers in whose vacant positions I was interested, in order to get a precise idea of what they covered.
HR then helped me make my choice and submit my application. Our Group strongly advocates employee support and skills development.
I was made highly aware of this as an HR project manager.

In training, we are in contact with all CACEIS divisions and have a great deal of interaction with the various entities.
In three years, I was able to considerably enhance my knowledge of the CACEIS business lines, understand their development and suggest appropriate training.

In the last month, my position as Deputy Manager has brought me new challenges, as much through its extremely dense and diversified tasks, as for the responsibilities involved. Furthermore, challenge is one of my biggest motivators!
